Now is the TIME to get creative and do what you love! The economy is in a transitional shift, and most of us do not know what is to come. I am not an economist, but what I can tell you is that a new era is coming, and in fact is already here. It is about perspective and choice. We always have choices, and in this case, it is about choosing our mindset and the perspective we hold. Have you ever seen a movie you loved, but your friend or partner had a very different opinion and did not like it? This is about perspective. There is always a different way to look at the same situation, project, or event. If we choose to see the negative, the negative will show itself. If we choose to see hope and positivity, then positivity will become our reality. Energetically, we draw into our lives the people and experiences we project.
Because the economy’s paradigm is changing from what was, to a new norm, our choice is to decide what part we will have in the formation of the new system. I encourage you to look at your own attitude, boost your creativity, and think “outside the box” starting now. Decide whether you will await the new era, or be an active participant in the changing phase. This is the difference between being ahead of the curve, or reactive to it. We are in the age of change, and the only constant is change. There is no benefit in fighting it, so instead embrace it and take steps to “turn on” your creative mind. Here are some ideas and ways to get started whether you are currently working, unemployed, recently down-sized or seeking a career change:
(1) Think about ways you and your skills can be implemented and utilized in the work world, in the community, and in ways you have not previously considered.
(2) Try something new, like using a new site (online) or software you have been hearing about
(3) Take a class in something you would like to learn or learn more about (low cost classes are out there too, so do your research)
(4) Join LinkedIN.com and tell your friends/colleagues to as well. Begin connecting and reconnecting; then tell people what you are up to via the status update.
(5) Engage in a creative outlet. If you love to paint (for example), give yourself permission to block out time in your schedule to set aside for painting. Fully immerse yourself in it during those times.
I encourage and support you in discovering new ways of bringing about creativity in your life, through the job search, a current job, all long-term career goals, and personal aspirations. If you have been looking for ways to break into a new field, do not wait, and enter right away as a volunteer. More programs, companies and agencies are seeking volunteers than ever. And remember, it is often that energetic, creative minded volunteer who will get hired when a job opening does become available as well.
Career satisfaction is found for most of us when we are acknowledged professionally, financially and creatively. Sometimes, it is easy to forget the creative component, and so this month we bring this to the forefront.
